I think, it is because github-markup gem (https://github.com/github/markup) is not support syntax highlighting. There are some pull-reqs(e.g. https://github.com/github/markup/pull/39), not merged yet.

いまは https://github.com/github/markup を使っているので GFM 準拠じゃないんですよね。 markdown とは別に "GFM" っていうフォーマットを作って http://developer.github.com/v3/markdown/ の API を直に叩くのがいいのかもしれないです。 (GFM がデフォルト選択されているとよさそう)

それか https://github.com/chjj/marked を使うのがいいのか
