Just adding my anecdotal experience with this issue, it's frustrating to say the least but not show stopping. Ubuntu 20.04 on a modern desktop, seeing this occasionally on both Google...

I should be able to take a look at this tonight. This is -very- interesting to me, as well ;-) Hopefully I can make some progress.
