Haha, it's okay. I'll start debugging there then. I'm surprised xrandr is so slow on your system - on mine it takes about 0.077 seconds to run.

It only ever updated when the playlist was visible to begin with. Said commit does not fix the issue.

Something like "eval" would be fine, yeah. It doesn't really matter what it is anyways, what matters is that it doesn't excecute arbitrary code just by typing it.
