yeah, for reference, this is the implementation from a fork of iD which already fetches directly from ELI: fd74f9fb48f6390f68e5a90529bb119852e345bc

You can kinda do this already, but the UX sucks and it only supports a restricted subset of tags (`name` and 7 other tags). To use this feature, add `&gpx=...`...

I also find this very frustrating, but it seems to have been a deliberate design decision[^1] It'd be nice if ⇧ Shift + E did the same thing, but also...

we have a fix ready in #9816, but https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues/8929#issuecomment-1666724254 still needs consideration @1ec5: my personal opinion is that iD should be predictable rather than applying some guesswork which is bound...

Hey, could you please provide a [minimal reproducible example](https://stackoverflow.com/help/minimal-reproducible-example) for this issue? This library does not do any caching, so there's very little that can be done without further information.

I removed a few that are definitely not 'clear-cut', kept the inconsistency issues (for now)
