Old issue, but I was looking for the same thing. I ended up using the absolute path from IFile and passed that into [GetFileFromPathAsync](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/windows.storage.storagefile.getfilefrompathasync#Windows_Storage_StorageFile_GetFileFromPathAsync_System_String_)
