cfgrib gives me fits when I tried xarray originally in reading grib2 files.
By George, the eccodes 2.38.3 worked so far.
Update. I also tried VVEL and it gave me the same error but for a different date too.

It says 3.8.4 and that 3.10 was uninstalled
Even with 3.10 it gave me the error
