I don't know if this is a good idea, but it should be evaluated on its merits, not ignored because it wasn't evaluated timely. (Though evaluating timely would be best.)

This sounds like a real issue that shouldn't be closed just because it wasn't attended to quickly (though of course attending to it quickly would be better)
