Not a good idea since webvtt renderers in media players are still primitive.

Reopening as there appears some interest. My player of choice (mpv) still doesn't support properly, though (webvtt that is).

issue arises in aijin.ts at 0:16:37 and causes the subtitle text above to not appear. As can be seen there are a lot of DRCS characters used at this point.

I've been able to work around this issue by disabling bindings entirely on the problematic class, but the issue is still present. I'm going to keep this open in case...
