Can't you simply use `%m` and print the month no. instead of the month name? :)
Ugh. It's pretty annoying that Chrome can't parse this. Firefox works fine. I'm not sure if I want to look into setting Content-Type to work for each individual browser quirk....
It's still something that would be fixable on our end so I think we should leave it open just in case someone wants to give it a try.
Unless you're a very high traffic site I would think that compressing the actual HTML will not have a big impact. We can still leave this open.

I strongly agree with Anne, this doesn't feel like it should be web-exposed. I get the idea of integrating with permissions properly but you're really adding a lot of complexity...
