A support rep at MongoDB Atlas pointed me to [this related issue](https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/NODE-5804) with the MongoDB Node.js driver. The rep said it was actively being looked into.

Cannot edit uploaded image when hosting Payload CMS behind a reverse proxy

Upgrading Payload to 2.14.2 appears to have fixed it for us on our AWS Elastic Beanstalk deployments.
