Think there was a better way to approach this potentially and I've made some updates that hook into using the `api` to update `customQueryParams` and use them as it works...

I'm totally open to whichever way we want to do this 😄 I can revert the latest changes if necessary or update these to filter out certain `customQuery` params 🤔
