The boards just snap in place. It takes a little more force than I care for, but it will just snap in place. No screws are needed.

Did you ever find out what the issue was? Was it the board being toast or something else? This is the error and screenshot I got: 

How did you reinstall everything? Did you reformat the microsd card and follow the instructions in the BTT manual or install some other way?
