I think all of the same !communities should be grouped together under /g/, with both the instance admin and user having the ability to filter/block out the ones they don't...
As for costings; I feel it would be inevitable that the entire lemmyverse share an official indexer, even if instance Admins could technically opt for a third-party solution, or none...
