Try to run in a terminal window the `ps aux` command while you are previewing and after the previewing. Can you post the output of the command? Maybe it shows...

I would say an issue for EmulationStation... Why do you think omxplayer is the problem? Or, where do you see/find out that omxplayer is used? In an EmulationStation configuration file?
