Users of APL on the Mac (where RIDE is the default UI) expect to have a menu item to load a new workspace. This probably needs a new protocol message...
Wouldn't it be nice if the Insert key toggled between insert and overwrite modes?
On the Mac, a shortcut Cmd-h to hide the session would be nice - with a reference in the Dyalog-17.0 main menu. Reported in RIDE 4.1.3366.

If you run the kernel in a non-UTF-8 locale, e.g. by setting LANG=C, it (sometimes) fails to output APL characters with an error message like: `'ascii' codec can't encode characters...
On Linux the kernel tries to search for the newest installed dyalog executable. I think it would be better just to invoke "dyalog", as the package installation mechanism makes sure...
... so that you can easily switch to them. (This was reported in RIDE3; may not make sense any more.)
