Just noticed that the backspace "issue" is covered by the wiki-page for mac. I can add though that '{' (which is option+shift+8) and '}' has the same behavior as '$'
Works perfect for fixing '$' (yes I removed my "fix" from my vsvimrc). :) Although I don't think it's a special case for '$', it's something general. '{' just inserts...
Took me a second to get back to testing, I can confirm that '{'-jumping now works as I expect. I must have done something wrong before. I still have issues...
Actually option+shift+¨ works for me as well, although it has never been how I've entered that character :) (tested both methods in vim, which has the same behavior for both...
The difference is that shift+¨ requires a space after to input '^', option+shift+¨ enters '^' immediately without requiring pressing space bar afterwards.

Or that you've found the one person who inputs ^ in a flawed way :)
The others I can think of are: ¨ ´ ` ~ But they all require a space afterwards (at least the way I input them). Although I've never used any...
I will test it asap, might have to wait until tomorrow afternoon though. :)
