Is there an equivalent issue somewhere about adding this to GitHub's web interface?
Having the same problem. Surely there are quite a number of use cases that require non-hashable `Categorical` values, making this a very useful feature.
Thanks for the reply! However, I don't understand how your suggestion allows for a variable number of layers. I updated my question to clarify this requirement.
@zinnourlahcene yeah, I used the inner plus outer loop solution I described in my question. Don't think it was really worth it though.

From @arosen93's comment, sounds like even with this merged, spin-polarized calcs (3 cols) run with pre 5.4.x Vasp would still be parsed incorrectly as spin-unpolarized by `pymatgen`? I assume the...
