I tried the 1.2.3 and 1.2.2 appimage and they do have the same issue. I'll try some more.

1.0.0 AppImage has this issue for me also. Looks like might be a Qt SVG bug? The SVG files display fine in Inkscape and Gwenview. My Qt is 5.15.2

I just tried the 1.2.5 appimage. The same icons are still scrambled. I get that it is a minor glitch. But some folks might be disconcerted that their super security...

[Suggestion] A way to specify container storage location and/or make it readable by user

Same issue here. This causes my backup program to complain that it can't read some of my files.
