Probably too many changes for too little benefit to consider merging this but I started so I thought I'd persevere... There shouldn't be any functional changes, just explicit casts highlighting...

Partly personal habit of just building x64 and partly because I didn't realise 32 was the preferred. I'll add x86 and some RelWithDebInfo configurations too.
