I noticed this myself (once, though I couldn't reliably reproduce it) in conjunction with the issue eventually fixed by https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/14890. Perhaps you might try this score with that build to...
The fix has not yet been merged, so you should not expect to see its results in any builds yet (except for a specific build of the PR in question)
If you can provide a score where this reliably happens, or describe proper steps to consistently reproduce it, then we can reopen this issue.
@sammik Are you still looking at this? If there's a safe enough fix for any of the remaining issues we may be able to include them in 4.2; otherwise this...

Your haiku has slightly too many syllables, I'm afraid.
I can reproduce this on Linux (and it's very, very annoying) but not on Windows; so it appears to be Linux-specific.
@bkunda For now, not that immediately springs to mind; but when we get to implementing stemlets it would make sense for control(s) for those to live under Rest -> Beam...

This sounds very reminiscent of https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/13133 (and https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/14057). It seems that certain UI operations are causing the problem - possibly due to memory leaks, as suggested. It would be good...
