Playback works well now. I'm going to do a few extra tests and then I will take it out of draft this evening.

@warp-core this has been updated with the latest master, I've tested the changes and resolved any issues found during testing. This is ready for review.

I plan to wait for a core dev to review and then I'll address everyone's feedback in one go.
