Same issue. It only opens once, and stays hidden after trying to restart it. :/

Both have their uses, sure, but wouldn't it be more straightforward to treat things as a regular anchor first and foremost? and, then as an extension, if the active/anchored tab...

Yes, I tried it with public (closed) and public (open) and got the same json error in both cases.
