I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm glad someone has gotten to the bottom of this.

Can also confirm that printing the first line and making prompt a single line seems to fix the issue.

If I forked an fix the issue would you be willing to accept the pull request? Or is there a specific reason you ship a snap without a fully functional...

I believe your are missing the UID and GID of the APP_USER. Ps I am no longer updating the container. Meaning it is unsupported. I will happily answer questions though....
