I created a test case.  The KoReader ball gets stretched in KoReader.  The KoReader ball doesn't get stretched in Okular. 
Same problem when testing directly on mupdf 1.23.7. If you open it in KoReader using the Picture Document or Image viewer, the image looks normal.
The issue is really with the JPEG format. It looks normal in MuPDF/KoReader when I convert the image to PNG.
It's based on similar characteristics with other pixels. I checked that the stretch thing works in a similar manner. But you are right, it's not exactly the OP image. Other...
