Let me try to build this version and verify on my USB4 device, will provide feedback later

Got a Segmentation fault when upgrading the fw as: 07:17:52:0447 FuPlugin superclassed write_firmware(intel_usb4) Decompressing… [*********************************** ]./upgrade-fw.sh: line 4: 14436 Segmentation fault

here you go libgobject-2.0.so.0!g_type_check_instance_cast (Unknown Source:0) libfu_plugin_intel_usb4.so!FU_INTEL_USB4_NVM(gpointer ptr) (fwupd/plugins/intel-usb4/fu-intel-usb4-nvm.h:12) libfu_plugin_intel_usb4.so!fu_intel_usb4_device_prepare_firmware(FuDevice * device, GBytes * fw, FwupdInstallFlags flags, GError ** error) (fwupd/plugins/intel-usb4/fu-intel-usb4-device.c:441) libfwupdplugin.so.7!fu_device_prepare_firmware(FuDevice * self, GBytes * fw, FwupdInstallFlags flags, GError...

seems it died in "fu_intel_usb4_nvm_get_vendor_id"

With the new branch, Segmentation fault is gone, but the firmware was not upgraded on my docking, I think it's failed on activating, I will find time to debug on...

I just tried the intel-usb4 branch on my dell-dock (upgrade/downgrade), everything works as expected

sure, let me prepare the device and do the test, will provide the feedback once I finish it.

Got below error in "fu_firmware_parse" `FuEngine failed to add device usb:02:00:02: NVM parse error: failed to read pd-pointer: attempted to read 0x04 bytes at offset 0x71c from buffer of 0x224`

@hughsie I sent it to your gmail, the error is observes during device probed not flashed.
