Nobody mentioned IPFS yet. :-p IPFS also stores files in chunks and supports different chunkers, and they're about to (or have already?) changed the default chunker to a data-dependent one.

Did you ever resolve this problem? I got the same (in a different environment), with MPL 1.4.3.
I just noticed that the 'reference' attribute is also found in the description of `transform`, `geometry`, and `table` parameters.
Also, for `transform`, I wonder whether we would need two attributes (one for the fixed and one for the moving image)? According to @jcfr , the attribute is not used...
