I Have a lot of what you described in the Files API section already written, just needs some refactoring. I'll probably have it complete by next week. Maybe this issue...
Took some time to look at this yesterday, seems to boil down to `-[RCTTextInputComponentView _setAttributedString:]` not keeping up (specifically position calculation) with user when spamming keys while autocorrect/spellcheck is involved...
