How best to incorporate Wind River's work?

Wind River has done some work on `meta-ros` and published it in these repos: - - How should it be added to `meta-ros`?

Make changes to default paths used by ROS?

Should `ROS_HOME` be set (otherwise ROS 1 writes to `/home/root`)? Should `ROS_LOG_DIR` and `ROS_TEST_RESULTS_DIR` be set to be under `/var/log`? What about ROS 2 logs?
