Haystack defaults to silent failures. It can easily be configured to raise these exceptions (and use a certain default batch size, plus other options [here](https://github.com/django-haystack/django-haystack/blob/1cc82885e287fe33bb937047137da3d803072684/haystack/backends/__init__.py#L79-L83)).
