There are still-opened issues about running code on the existing terminal without creating a new one. Some of these issues referenced as https://github.com/formulahendry/vscode-code-runner/issues/417#issue-401626153 https://github.com/formulahendry/vscode-code-runner/issues/769#issue-856737156

It looks like no one cares about it; I'm not sure if it's tricky so that the contributors could not find a solution.

I have the same problem.

@alanyoungCN on my side, I downloaded the source code then edited the code as in https://github.com/formulahendry/vscode-code-runner/pull/905/commits/e8e1561bf57f972a591790b28de777bb4b5c0646 then I rebuilt or "repacked" the extension using the guidelines of this page https://code.visualstudio.com/api/working-with-extensions/publishing-extension.

@mdilai Code is code, as much as it can explain itself but cannot be 100% human readable, documentation always complements any code. That's standard in programming and doesn't need argumentation....
