As another data point, I would say 90% of my use of metacpan relates to looking at the sidebar data and links, and other metadata, rather than the documentation content...
It's not strictly speaking a bug. MetaCPAN is using [MultiMarkdown](https://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/) to render the markdown, which adds some extensions over [the original Markdown format](https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/). GitHub uses [its own set of extensions](https://github.github.com/gfm/)...
That is an entirely different issue, because the style rules for markdown don't match what you want.

This is mostly fixed now. The distribution page now links to the .pm file, which has separate links for the source and pod source. The search page is still linking...
The distribution page is now correctly linking to the pm file.
This appears to be a CPAN Testers issue. The database we're pulling from doesn't seem to be up to date. I've alerted preaction about the issue.
