Vimeo has been broken for quite a while now, sorry. I would recommend disabling it in the YouTube5 preferences for now.
I'm afraid this is a bug in Safari; Javascript should never be able to make the browser crash. I may or may not be able to do anything about it.
This is a bug with the current version that will be fixed once I finish implementing a better solution for handling videos on YouTube.

Yes, it is possible, it just requires a lot of changes to how YouTube5 works.
Very interesting, that's not the route I'm taking, but it's good to know how it was done. My goal is to still have youtube5 work with flash uninstalled.
I am currently in the process of rewriting a lot of the extension, as it is thoroughly broken right now due to many changes on YouTube.
