Got the same issue with the same mudpack, rolled back the chunk but placing the Rancher again didn't result in a crash. https://pastebin.com/TSmirJRn

Tried again, this time the issue came up when the rancher was fully configured and i placed cows within the range. This time I luckily had a recent backup.

@itsdinkd That's what I thought as well, makes the rancher completely unusable. shame
