I've done the first little bit; removed the Projects block, popped in a social links block, and made the Blog Posts block rise up a little in prominence:
Going to mark this as fixed... for now at least. I opened #137 as another small improvement, after tweaking the home page text a bit.
Thanks; ultimately I do love the comments on my blog, and have learned (and discussed) a ton of good info over the years. A few criteria I'd need if going...
The only issue I have with a not-black background is for people with OLED displays, anything not #000 causes the OLED to use substantially more power.
It looks like this was an existing bug in Drupal 7 (for my reference: http://d7.jeffgeerling.com/photos/2010/2019). Might have to do some manual script to clean up old nodes with these broken...
