Thanks for the issue: this is indeed a bug in the doc. Fixed in #8199.
I have no problem with Qt 6.2 nor 6.4.
You can use printf.

Yes it is possible to inherit from basic viewer and add interactions (I just did that for the LCC demo, cf my last PR).

Instead of taking a filename as second parameter, it is probably better to take a surface mesh (any model of facegraph).
