Contacted CircleCI briefly, they said it might be a known issue that they're in the process of addressing.

Was able to reproduce here too, I'll see what I can find.

As a side note, I thought it might be due to https://github.com/bullet-train-co/bullet_train-base/pull/48, but I still get the same behavior when reverting back to before the commit.
