Known limitation as shell does not notify when ADS are deleted, etc. Should be solved together with auto-refresh in MTP folders (manual list update after a file op).

I'm not familiar with this either. I know Teracopy registers itself as a drag&drop handler. Explorer++ code is a good place to see how to invoke it.
It's supposed to do something like this automatically. If a folder is full of pictures it should switch to gridview.
It will remember the choice for just that folder, but won't change the predicted layout mode for all other picture folders, right?
Why not, though I haven't been on the project for some time and I'm not too familiar with WindowContext. Another possibility is to create a specific MainPage and navigate to...
~IIRC "Files.exe" might also be encoded in the .reg file to set Files as default.~ Nope, it points to "Files.App.Launcher.exe"
Could you point me a couple of examples where ViewModel and App are referenced in Storage?
