The tests need fixed and we'd like the `master` branch renamed to `main`. Also, need to figure out the CI GitHub action for publishing PyPi package automatically.

`verify_serial_number` fails due to scope issue

There is a scope issue in `verify_serial_number` that should be fixed. Also, wouldn't be a bad time to switch the `master` branch to `main`.
