Had the same issue, and successfully ran the solution suggested by @fllff Would be great to see this in the documentation, or should I create a pull request?

@mattxwang sorry I just saw this! I don't do many pull requests so I wasn't keeping an eye out. Your solution seems like a much better resolution to the problem...

I'm going to add support to the suggestion to add documentation for Google CoLab or similar. Inevitably at least one student is unable to get a successful install in time...
