You're right, git-xltrail currently doesn't play with `diff show`. However, using something like `git diff HEAD~1` should work as a workaround for now?

In it's current state, it could be done, but we're lacking the resources to drive this project forward at the moment.

What are your regional/language settings?

currently, the tool is only supported on Windows

try to re-run `git xltrail install` to see if that fixes it.

Happy to accept a pull request to refactor tests to use pytest :)

I am not really familiar with the new school build tooling yet, so if you can provide a PR would help!
