@AadityaRavindran besides ROS 1 rosbag supports it, what use case do you have? i think this is reasonable option to have, but what could be the actual use case?

after all, i think that is okay to have `topic identification` in the storage to tell the publishers, but some comments below. - totally agree on efficiency and the cases...
