Seems like security theater to me. If the other person hearing your voice would be a problem, why not just use text?
Well they already have the real time [text feature](https://simplex.chat/docs/guide/send-messages.html#sending-live-messages) and you can use it with voice to text. Much better solution to this problem imo.
That version of macOS is no longer supported by Apple so I don't think it's a good idea for the devs to support their app on it either.
Seems like a pointless feature when you could just say you're low on battery in the message or something. Every new feature is more maintenance work and potential attack surface,...
