@pschichtel have you looked at [skunk](https://github.com/tpolecat/skunk) project? It has similar idea with Anorm, but uses only Postgres in async way, without jdbc.

If we do not want to have slf4j in deps, since Java 9 we have [`System.getLogger`](https://docs.oracle.com/javase%2F9%2Fdocs%2Fapi%2F%2F/java/lang/System.Logger.html). This thread was before it was released. Think, it's time to add it
