This mixes test code with production code, which I'm generally against, but the benefits you're describing are outweighing the cons here so :+1:

Core PR is in and I believe that this works even without the core PR so the minimum version is not necessary :shrug:

@tbrisker how is this plugin maintained? Is there release expected, or should we keep the function deprecated in core and let it print deprecation not to break this plugin?
