LGTM. The fix that I made in EvergladesSpeciesModel for the save issue was simply to save the model immediately after fitting. That eliminated the idiosyncratic error we were seeing there.
Anyone looking for a somewhat more complex issue that is still manageable without a deep understanding of the code base - this is a good one. Enjoy!
