There is, I can't remember the specifics at the moment but it is definitely do-able.
I suspect I need to escape special characters within the password field. By chance does your password contain any of these characters(, &, " or ')?
Sometimes kodi needs to be restarted when updating addons, especially if you've done more than one update on a single addon. Other than that check your log file, it should...
