Managed to reproduce this... the source image is bands 1 to 4 of LandSat 8 scene LC08_L1TP_203024_20190513_20190521_01_T1 merged together.

Re-saving the image in QGIS with pyramids has produces a working image. Though both have identical output from the metadata extraction example. More investigation to happen...

ASC Input format.

This probably needs more thoughts about input formats and the structure of the project. possibly sub-modules like fulgurite-core, fulgurite-geotiff, fulgurite-asc, etc...
