How to install and play

You can't compile this into a running game. It is just the game source code that compiles into a .dll but you still need the game assets and game engine & launcher which are not open source.

Assuming you have bought the game and somehow ended up here instead of the support page of steam or origin or ea:

If you have the game on Steam and missed the instructions:

  • Install Steam: follow the instructions on Steam's homepage
  • In the Steam client, log in to your Steam account, go to LIBRARY
  • Right click on Command & Conquer Remastered Collection in the left column, then click INSTALL, follow the instructions of the popup from here on.
  • After the installation is complete, double click on Command & Conquer Remastered Collection to play. ~~You'll have to wait until the game is released to be able to play.~~

If you have the game on Origin, follow the instructions on their help page.

If you have the physical edition and that somehow didn't come with instructions, you can try the ADD A GAME button on the bottom left of the Steam client.

If you don't know what to do with this source code, then this release has no relevance to you. If you're here to get C&C for free, you're not even on the right planet.

This source code is for creating mods with. The full game can be purchased from Steam or Origin. I forked this repo and included instructions for how to build this source and use it in a mod if you are interested in doing that https://github.com/alexlk42/CnC_Remastered_Collection. My repo is configured for Visual Studio 2019.
