Just happened to me as well, randomly after a restart. The fix of moving everything from `C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Programs\Microsoft VS Code\_` (Path see [here](https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/windows#_install-vs-code-on-windows)) to the parent directory worked though.
