Kismet continually tracks data - the more devices seen the more memory it will use, unless you tune it to discard devices and associations over time as per the memory...
There is absolutely nothing in kismet which would treat proximity any different; if a valid packet arrives from the sniffer, it's handled. You need to determine if whatever you're seeing...
